What kids have to say about love
"A man & a woman promise to go through sickness, and illness, and diseases together" -Marlon, 10
"Lovers will stare at each other & their food will get cold. Other people just care about the food" -Brad, 8
"Tell your wife she looks pretty even if she looks like a truck" -Ricky, 7
"Love will find you even if you are trying to hide from it. I been trying to hide from it since I was five but the girls keep finding me" -Dave, 8

Jesus & Lazarus
When Jesus discovered that Lazarus had fallen ill, he immediately doubled back to Bethany, ignoring threats from the Jews, to be by his side. Seeing Lazarus' sisters heartbroken over his death, Jesus became overwhelmed with empathy "When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. And he said, 'Where have you laid him?' They said to him, 'Lord, come and see.' Jesus wept. So the Jews said 'See how he loved him!'"
Jesus paid no regard to his safety, His only concern was for Lazarus and his sisters. In their presence, Jesus' love for them was so overwhelmingly obvious, even those who sought to stone him were moved by it. This expression of love pales in comparison to Jesus' ultimate sacrifice.

"Who though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross." -Philippians 2:6-8
Jesus humbled himself out of love and obedience to God, dying a criminal's humiliating death on the cross, to pay the price for our sins. This is a beautiful, selfless act of love - He expected nothing in return

"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." -John 15:12-13
Jesus calls us to love each other the way that He loves us - A selfless, unconditional, all-encompassing love; demonstrated by the way He gave His life for us, all of us, ever. Our love for others is meant to be about them. Loving them in what ever form, exactly where they are. For God, His love is about us. Not about what we do or how well we obey Him. His love does not change based on circumstance. And by learning to experience God and love Him back, we learn to make our love about Him.

"Our hearts are shaped by God's love"
"Love must be learned again and again, there is no end to it"
